OSTM
Open Source Training Mark
The Open Source Training Mark (OSTM) offers an expanding range of qualifications and training materials. These are designed to allow individuals and organisations to develop their skills in using and deploying Free and Open Source solutions.
Principles
- OSTM is designed to allow Partners, who have designed and developed courses, to share them with other organisations and trainers while maintaining the validity of the certification.
- Trainers are individuals who have been approved by Partners to deliver and assess the award of their certifications.
- The validity of the qualifications is to be maintained by everyone associated with OSTM.
- Peer review is expected to be involved in the award of Trainer and Member status.
- Courses are generally run with a student:trainer ratio of no more than four to one.
Membership
An individual who has passed an OSTM qualification is registered as a Member of OSTM. Members are expected to support the principles of OSTM and may be involved in the review of awards and courses.
Trainers
A Member may be awarded Trainer status by the Partners for a course. They are required to have an appropriate skill in teaching or training – this may either be gained by successfully completing the OSTM Train course, or by demonstrating equivalent skills.
Partners
Partners are Members or organisations responsible for the maintenance and certification of certain courses. They may select and/or train appropriate individual Members as Trainers. They are expected to be involved in the review of Trainers for the course.
